Blake Lively has disclosed the primary guideline she and her spouse Ryan Reynolds adhere to in order to maintain the vitality in their marriage.
The 36-year-old mother of four and the 47-year-old Deadpool actor, who have been married for over 12 years, are accustomed to the spotlight. However, they have made it evident that they refuse to allow the glitz and glamour associated with their fast-paced lifestyles to impact their romantic relationship.
Despite their demanding schedules as Hollywood celebrities, the couple has revealed that they intentionally avoid scheduling work commitments simultaneously, believing it contributes to the strength of their marriage.
Blake emphasized that they established this principle to prioritize their personal lives when they first started their relationship over a decade ago and have continued to abide by it since then.
During an appearance on her Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants co-star Amber Tamblyn’s show Further Ado, the Gossip Girl star elaborated that while their careers are significant, they never want them to interfere with their relationship. She remarked, “When Ryan and I got together, we made a rule not to work at the same time so that we could always prioritize our personal life.”
The actress acknowledged that adhering to their rule has sometimes proven challenging, particularly in the initial stages of their relationship when she was frequently filming. She added, “I’m used to working hard and going and going and going and going and not stopping. Especially, Gossip Girl was six years of my life, and we were sometimes shooting three episodes at once.”
Blake and Ryan frequently publicly express affection for each other while also sharing insights into maintaining a lasting bond.
In 2019, Ryan clarified their rule during an interview with People, emphasizing that they avoid scheduling film projects simultaneously to ensure they remain together as a family. He stated, “Blake and I don’t do movies at the same time. If she is doing a movie in Thailand and I am doing a movie in Vancouver, we would just never see each other. We operate as a unit, and that works really well for us.”
Their commitment to prioritizing their relationship appears to be paying off, as the couple, who are parents to four children, often express their love for each other and affectionately refer to their home as a ‘zoo.’
Ryan has previously expressed confidence in his and Blake’s parenting abilities, emphasizing the importance of communication and self-awareness in raising their children.
Blake and Ryan, who met in 2010 on the set of the Green Lantern, continue to capture headlines with their playful banter on social media. Recently, Blake teased her husband on Instagram after returning home from the Sᴜper Bowl, where she supported her close friend Taylor Swift. Ryan, who was home alone during the event, humorously responded to his wife’s post, demonstrating their lighthearted and loving relationship.
