Italian actor and model Michele Morrone, widely recognized for his role in the sensuɑl drɑma “365 Days” and its subsequent sequels, has been confirmed to join the ensemble cast of “A Simple Favor 2.”
The sequel project recently received the green light from Amazon Prime Video, where it is slated to stream upon release. Returning to direct the film is Paul Feig, with stars Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively set to reprise their respective roles, as reported by Deadline.
Joining Morrone in the cast are several new additions, including Elena Sofia Ricci, Elizabeth Perkins, Alex Newell, Taylor Ortega, and Lorenzo de Moor.
The original film, “A Simple Favor” (2018), garnered both critical acclaim and commercial success, earning $97.6 million globally against a $20 million budget.
Morrone, 33, rose to prominence for his portrayal of Massimo Torricelli, a mafia crime boss, in the “365 Days” trilogy. Beyond acting and modeling, the Italian native has pursued a career in music, releasing two studio albums: “Dark Room” (2020) and “Double” (2023).
Set against the picturesque backdrop of Capri, Italy, “A Simple Favor 2” follows the return of Stephanie Smothers (Kendrick) and Emily Nelson (Lively) as they attend Emily’s lavish wedding to an affluent Italian businessman. The festivities take a dark turn as mᴜrder and betrayal unfold amidst the glamorous affair.
The screenplay, based on characters created by Darcey Bell, was penned by Jessica Sharzer, with revisions by Steve Yockey, Laeta Kalogridis, and Feig. Feigco Entertainment’s Feig and Laura Fischer will produce, with Sharzer serving as an executive producer.
Reprising their roles from the first film are Aparna Nancherla, Henry Golding, Andrew Rannells, Bashir Salahuddin, Joshua Satine, Ian Ho, and Kelly McCormack.
Kendrick expressed her enthusiasm for the sequel, noting that Stephanie has evolved while retaining her essence. Production for “A Simple Favor 2” is scheduled to commence in spring and will stream on Amazon Prime Video upon completion.
