The first official images from the upcoming film adaptation of It Ends With Us have been released.
Based on the hugely popular book of the same nɑme, the movie stars Blake Lively, 36, as Lily Bloom, a woman in a relationship with neurosurgeon Ryle Kincaid, played by the film’s director Justin Baldoni, 40. The story takes a turn when Lily’s first love, Atlas Corrigan, portrayed by Brandon Sklenar, 32, reappears in her life.
In the newly released images, Lily (played by Lively) is seen in intimate moments with Ryle, sharing a loving gaze and having fun at a karaoke bar. Blake Lively looks stunning in a black crop top with a cardigan casually falling off her shoulders. In another shot, she is chatting with her former flame, Atlas, at a restaurant, reflecting the complexity of her character’s romantic entanglements.
Jenny Slate, who plays Allysa in the film, appears in one of the scenes with Blake Lively. The film is set to premiere on August 9.
Author Colleen Hoover expressed her excitement about the adaptation, telling People that “seeing these characters come to life on the big screen is a dream come true.” She added that the film provides a new dimension to the connection readers have with the story. Hoover described It Ends With Us as “the hardest book I’ve ever written,” inspired by the relationship between her parents.
The book has enjoyed immense success since its release, selling over a million copies by 2019 and being translated into more than 20 languages. It gained additional traction in 2021 due to the #BookTok community on TιkTоk, which helped it become the best-selling print book of 2022 and remain on the New York Times Best Seller List for over 90 weeks.
Hoover’s sequel to It Ends With Us, titled It Starts With Us, was published in October 2022. With over 20 million books sold, Hoover is one of the best-selling authors in the United States.
