Dua Lipa has shared her journey of relocating to London at the age of 15, leaving behind her family in Kosovo. Born in London to parents of Kosovar-Albanian descent who sought refuge from Balkan ϲоnflιϲt, Dua initially moved to Kosovo in 2008 after the region declared independence. However, driven by her aspirations in the music industry, she made the courageous decision to return to London alone a few years later.
During an appearance on The Graham Norton Show, set to broadcast soon, the now 29-year-old singer reflected on her solo move to London, emphasizing the abundance of musical opportunities in the city. Despite the challenges of relocating at such a young age, Dua expressed gratitude for the unwavering support of her family, highlighting their trust and grounding influence amidst the whirlwind of her burgeoning career.
Dua officially returned to the UK in 2014, believing it was necessary to establish herself in the global music scene. Upon her return, she resided with a family friend in Camden and attended Parliament Hill School, where she excelled academically, obtaining A-Levels in Politics, Psychology, English, and Media Studies.
Despite the geographical distance, Dua maintained a strong connection with her family, with her mother even traveling to London for parental engagements. Alongside her studies, she pursued her passion for music, attending weekend classes at Sylvia Young Theatre School and posting cover songs on platforms like YouTube and SoundCloud.
