Blake Lively made her first public appearance since her father, Ernie Lively, passed away last month.
The 33-year-old “Gossip Girl” actress was spotted on Thursday wearing a denim jacket, shorts, and sandals as she picked up takeout from a high-end restaurant in Westchester County, New York, on a rainy day.
Ernie Lively died from cardiac complications on June 3 at the age of 74. Blake’s casual outfit consisted of a blue denim jacket with the tag still attached, very short jean shorts showing off her toned legs, a pink button-down shirt, and braided straw sandals. Her long blonde hair fell in loose waves over her shoulders, and she appeared makeup-free.
Blake carried a brown paper takeout bag and a camel-colored purse with a gold chain strap. As she walked along the wet pavement, she furrowed her brow and looked at her phone with a serious expression.
The Hollywood Reporter noted that Ernie passed away in Los Angeles, surrounded by his wife Elaine and his children, including Blake, Jason, Eric, Lori, and Robyn. Ernie, an actor for almost 50 years, inspired all of his children to pursue acting. He is also survived by sons-in-law Ryan Reynolds and Bart, daughter-in-law Lani, sister Judith, and nine grandchildren, including Blake’s three children with Ryan Reynolds.
Ernie made his Hollywood debut in 1975 with a role in “The Waltons” and had a steady career, with his final role in the 2020 indie film “Phobic.” His most notable role was playing the father of his real-life daughter in “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants” and its 2008 sequel.
In addition to acting, Ernie was a respected acting coach, as was his wife, Elaine, whom he married in 1979. Blake has credited watching her parents teach acting as an inspiration for her career.
Ernie’s other screen credits include roles in “Passenger 57,” “Turner & Hооch,” and “Showdown in Little Tokyo,” as well as guest appearances on TV shows like “The X-Files,” “Seinfeld,” and “The West Wing.” Despite his passing, his legacy in Hollywood continues through his family’s work in the industry.
