Dua Lipa exudes glamour as she ascends the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

The Grammy-winning artist made a dazzling entrance at tonight’s Met Gala, adorned in a striking all-black ensemble by Marc Jacobs. Her outfit boasted a corset beneath a delicate layer of lace, paired with a flowing мɑxi skirt crafted from sheer lace. Adding to the allure were her choice accessories, which included coordinating mesh polka-dot opera gloves, layers of sparkling belly chains, a spiked diamond-encrusted necklace, and, notably, a voluminous feathered cape draped casually over one shoulder.

Lipa’s last appearance at the Met Gala was in 2023, where she served as a co-chair alongside Penélope Cruz, Michaela Coel, and Roger Federer. On that occasion, she paid homage to the theme “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty” by donning a 1992 white tweed ball gown by Chanel, originally worn on the runway by Claudia Schiffer.

This year’s theme, “The Garden of Time,” draws inspiration from J.G. Ballard’s 1962 short story of the same nɑмe. Essentially, the theme explores the intrinsic relationship between time and natural beauty, offering attendees ample room for interpretation.

Moreover, “The Garden of Time” harmonizes with the Costume Institute’s spring exhibition, “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” which will showcase approximately “250 objects spanning four centuries” from the institute’s extensive collection. These items will be “visually united by iconography related to nature, which will serve as a metaphor for the fragility and ephemerality of fashion,” as per a press release. The exhibition will integrate various modern technologies into its presentation, ranging from cutting-edge tools and artificial intelligence to traditional formats such as x-rays, video animation, light projection, and soundscapes.
