Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds made the unеxpеcted choice to skip the Met Gala for the second year in a row.
Known as the “Queen of the Met Gala” for her iconic appearances at the fashion event, the 36-year-old “Gossip Girl” star decided to spend the evening with her husband and their four children instead of attending the gala.
A source told Elle that “the couple chose to spend their night at home, rather than on the red carpet.”
Lively and Reynolds, 47, are parents to daughters James, nine, Inez, seven, and Betty, four, along with a one-year-old whose namе and gender have not been disclosed.
Lively hasn’t attended the Met Gala since co-chairing in 2022, but her recent appearance at a Tiffany & Co. event in New York sparked speculation that she might return. However, her absence from the gala disappointed fans, who expressed their feelings on Instagram.
“We missed you at the Met Gala,” one fan commented, with a crying emoji. Another added, “No Blake? No MET!” A third fan asked, “BLAKE WHY WERE U NOT AT THE MET GALA???????????????”
Some fans admitted to waiting the entire night for Lively to show up or post from the event.
Last year, Lively clarified her absence from the Met Gala by sharing a photo of herself pumping breastmilk in a bathroom, captioning it “First Monday in May.”
Despite confirming she wouldn’t attend, she did tell reporters at the Tiffany & Co. event that she would be “watching.” Neither Lively nor Reynolds addressed their absence from this year’s gala on social media.
Lively is currently filming “A Simple Favor 2,” the sequel to the 2018 dark comedy, and also working on the film adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s best-selling novel, “It Ends With Us.”
Reynolds has been busy shooting his new action-adventure film “Mayday” in Montreal while also supporting his Welsh soccer club Wrexham.
The couple welcomed their fourth child in February 2023. At the time, a source told US Weekly that Lively and Reynolds “knew this would be quite a transition growing their family to six now, but they’re all adjusting wonderfully.” Reynolds later shared his happiness about the new addition, noting that “three to four” was a smoother transition than from two to three children.
