Virgil van Dijk visited Monaco during his time off from Liverpool, getting shown the sights by Formula 1 World Champion and fellow Dutchman Max Verstappen
Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk only has a short break to enjoy, as he prepares to lead the Netherlands out at Euro 2024 next month. But in his brief summer holiday, he took to Monaco for the glitziest event in the Formula 1 calendar.
He was shown around Monte Carlo by compatriot Max Verstappen, the Red Bull Racing driver and reigning champion. Van Dijk may also have bumped into Trent Alexander-Arnold, another one visiting Monaco for the weekend.
While Alexander-Arnold was there in his capacity as one of the many celebrity part-owners of the struggling Alpine Racing team, Van Dijk stuck close to Red Bull for much of the weekend. But qualifying did not go to plan for Verstappen, with the usually-dominant Dutchman only able to put his car sixth on the grid, at a circuit where overtaking is notoriously difficult.
Alpine finished qualifying in 10th and 11th, and Alexander-Arnold will hope to see his side pick up some points from the weekend. Here’s how Van Dijk has been spending his vacation time.
