Germany booked their spot in the Euro 2024 quarterfinals with a hard-fought 2-0 victory over Denmark on Saturday. The match, however, wasn’t without its drаmа.

A strong thunderstorm forced a 20-minute stoppage in the first half, but Germany picked up where they left off after the restart. Kai Havertz opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 53rd minute after a handball by Danish defender Joachim Andersen.

Jamal Musiala doubled Germany’s lead in the 68th minute with a delightful curled finish. The young star now sits atop the Euro 2024 scorers’ list alongside Georgia’s Georges Mikautadze, both with three goals.

Denmark grew into the game as the half progressed but couldn’t find a way past a resolute German defense. Christian Eriksen came close before the break, while an early second-half goal by Andersen was chalked off for offside by VAR.

This victory marks Germany’s first major tournament knockout win since 2016. They now face either Spain or Georgia in the quarterfinals, looking to continue their journey towards Euro glory.
