Gordon had an impressive 2023/24 season under Eddie Howe at Newcastle, earning him a call-up to the England squad for Euro 2024 by manager Gareth Southgate. His stellar performances also attracted interest from Liverpool during this summer’s transfer window. However, Newcastle’s high demands have deterred Liverpool from pursuing the deal.

Newcastle had initially prepared to sell Gordon last week due to the club’s need to comply with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability rules. However, with the sales of Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh now completed, they no longer need to sell Gordon.

According to The Telegraph, Gordon was very flattered by Liverpool’s interest. Nevertheless, he has affirmed that he has no intention of leaving St. James’ Park this summer. Newcastle is aware that they will have to work hard to retain Gordon, understanding his connection to Liverpool as he grew up in the Merseyside area.

Currently, the winger is with the England squad in Germany as they progress to the quarter-finals of the Euros. Gordon is unlikely to feature in the upcoming match against Switzerland on July 6, as Southgate has yet to play him in the previous matches.
