While it was no secret that Mbappé would sport the Mercurial Superfly GS against Liverpool—having trained in them the day before—the sight of them on the field was particularly satisfying given the six-year gap since Neymar first wore the original version. Although the initial Green Speed boots were criticized for being uncomfortable, Mbappé showed no signs of discomfort as he dazzled Liverpool’s defense with his signature play. His run down the left wing led to Neymar scoring PSG’s second goal, helping the team secure a crucial 2-1 victory and strengthen their chances of advancing from the group stages.

Earlier this week, only 2018 pairs of the new Green Speed boots were released, and they sold out almost immediately, much like the other notable debut boot of the match, Sadio Mané’s New Balance Furon ‘Bambaly’.
