Following the announcement of a multi-year collaboration in July, the global performance brand Rigorer and NBA rising star Austin Reaves have unveiled the AR1, his debut signature sneaker. On August 11, 2023, the AR1 made its global debut in a special “Ice Cream” colorway, launched in partnership with the international marketplace KICKS CREW.
Hailing from Arkansas, Reaves played college basketball at Wichita State and Oklahoma before signing a four-year contract with the Los Angeles Lakers this summer. During the 2023 NBA season and playoffs, Reaves sported apparel from Rigorer, a Chinese brand founded in 2014 by former CBA player Lin Chenyao. This long-term partnership with Rigorer aims to deliver high-quality, affordable performance basketball shoes to a worldwide audience.
“From my roots in Arkansas and being undrafted to now having my own signature shoe, this is a dream come true,” Austin Reaves commented. “The AR1 was designed with the help of the design team to enhance performance and efficiency on the court. It not only complements my game but is also versatile for all players.”
The Austin Reaves x Rigorer AR1 “Ice Cream” sneaker features a pastel pink and blue colorway, reflecting Reaves’ nostalgic summer treat from his Arkansas childhood. The limited edition release includes two pairs of performance socks and comes in a specially designed box. Besides its striking look, the AR1 incorporates advanced performance technologies influenced by Rigorer’s basketball experience.
Key performance features include a breathable Woven Cocoon Upper for lockdown support, a low-court feel ShowTime Tech Foam Midsole encased in EVA foam, and a Bubble Lacing System designed to eliminate lace bite. Additional performance elements include an Anti-Torsion TPU Plate made of carbon fiber and nylon, an Anti-Slip Sole, Front Sidewall TPU Panels, and an Anti-Skid Heel.
The Austin Reaves x Rigorer AR1 “Ice Cream” sneaker was exclusively available for $100 USD through KICKS CREW, leveraging the platform’s global reach to provide seamless shopping experiences and connect brands with international consumers.
