Tyrese Haliburton is heading back to the United States as a gold medalist after helping Team USA secure victory in the men’s basketball tournament at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. Alongside his medal, he’s bringing home memorable stories of playing with his childhood idols.

On Tuesday morning, Haliburton’s mother, Brenda, shared photos from his past, showing him in old LeBron James jerseys: one from the Eastern Conference All-Star game and another from James’ high school days at St. Vincent-St. Mary. James himself responded on social media after seeing these nostalgic images.

Haliburton also posted a throwback photo of himself wearing a Kevin Durant Team USA jersey next to a recent picture of him conversing with Durant during the Olympics. Despite dealing with a minor injury that limited him to three games and resulted in averages of 2.7 points and 0.7 assists, Haliburton maintained a positive outlook, humorously downplaying his contribution to Team USA’s gold medal win on social media.

As he returns home, Haliburton will take some time to recover and then shift focus to preparing for his fifth NBA season, his third full year with the Indiana Pacers, who he led to the Eastern Conference finals last year.
