LeBron James has revealed that he and his son Bronny James have already discussed how they will address each other if they end up playing together for the Los Angeles Lakers.
The Lakers selected Bronny with the 55th overall pick in the second round of this year’s NBA Draft.
While it’s still uncertain how Bronny will fit into the Lakers’ plans, the possibility of him playing alongside his father has been a long-held dream for LeBron. However, LeBron made it clear that he doesn’t want to be addressed as “Dad” on the court.
“No, we already established that,” LeBron said on an episode of The Shop. “He can’t call me Dad at work. Once we’re outside the facility and the gates are closed, then I can be Dad again. In the car, at home, I can be Dad.”
LeBron added, “He can call me something like 2-3, Bron, or GOAT if he wants. It’s up to him. But for me, it’s simple. I’ve been calling him Bronny for so long that it’s not like I’ve been saying ‘Hey, son’ all the time. It will be an adjustment for him, not me.”
LeBron emphasized, “We can’t be on the court and have him say, ‘Dad, push the ball. Dad, I’m open, Dad.’ That just can’t happen.”
The Lakers will kick off their season at home against the Minnesota Timberwolves on October 22.
