Dani Ceballos has unexpectedly expressed a desire to leave Real Madrid in the final days of the summer transfer window for 2024.
According to AS, Ceballos has requested to exit Real Madrid following interest from Real Betis. In addition to Betis, a foreign club is also ready to make a move for Ceballos. This sudden decision by the Spanish midfielder has forced Real Madrid to reconsider their transfer plans.
Previously, Ceballos had confirmed his intention to stay at the Bernabeu, leading the club to forgo signing another midfielder this summer. Real Madrid even sold Nico Paz and loaned out Mario Martin.
Now, with less than a week left in the transfer window, the Bernabeu outfit must urgently find a suitable replacement. If Ceballos departs, Real Madrid will need to sign another midfielder, especially given the injuries to Eduardo Camavinga and Jude Bellingham.
Coach Carlo Ancelotti has reportedly tried to persuade Ceballos to stay, but the midfielder is determined to leave. On August 28, Ceballos bid farewell to his teammates at Real Madrid.
Ceballos, primarily an attacking midfielder, appeared in 20 La Liga matches during the 2023/24 season, but 15 of those were as a substitute. This limited playing time is believed to be a key factor in his desire to move, as Betis has promised him a starting role. Additionally, Betis is preparing to sell Nabil Fekir to a club in Saudi Arabia.
