HE’LL STAY: Arsenal rejects Al-Ittihad’s bid for the Belgium striker Leandro Trossard

Arsenal have turned down a last-minute bid from Al-Ittihad to sign Leandro Trossard on an initial loan for the season, stating that they have no plans to let the Belgium forward leave.

Transfer: Arsenal receive €35m offer for Trossard from Saudi Arabia

The Saudi club reportedly offered £4 million for Trossard on loan, with an obligation to make the transfer permanent for approximately £25 million. Arsenal, however, swiftly rejected this proposal, considering Trossard an essential part of their team despite the recent arrival of Raheem Sterling on loan from Chelsea on the final day of the Premier League transfer window.

With transfer windows in Saudi Arabia’s Pro League and several European leagues closing on Monday, Al-Ittihad had hoped to bolster their squad by adding Trossard, joining Moussa Diaby, who was signed from Aston Villa for €60 million.

Trossard played against his former club Brighton on Saturday, following his goal-scoring appearance as a substitute in Arsenal’s victory over Aston Villa the previous week. His subdued celebration suggested dissatisfaction with his bench role, but Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta commended Trossard’s reaction.

In other transfer news, Napoli’s Victor Osimhen—who had been rumored for high-profile moves to England and Saudi Arabia—has surprisingly agreed to a season-long loan with Galatasaray. This arrangement, which includes a break clause in January, sees the Turkish club covering Osimhen’s wages. Additionally, former Manchester United defender Chris Smalling has completed his transfer from Roma to the Saudi Pro League club Al-Fayha. The transfer windows in the Netherlands and Portugal remain open until Monday night, with Manchester City’s Issa Kaboré joining Benfica on loan and PSV poised to sign Joel Ndala from City’s academy on a loan with a potential buy option up to £8.4 million, which includes a buyback clause for the England Under-17 forward.
