Kylian Mbappé and several French players were stunned when goalkeeper Mike Maignan criticized them for their lack of responsibility following the 1-3 defeat to Italy in the Nations League.

According to Football Italy, Maignan was the first to return to the dressing room after the match at Parc des Princes in Paris. There, coach Didier Deschamps reprimanded the players for their lack of effort, which led to the embarrassing loss in front of their home fans. The AC Milan goalkeeper was reportedly very harsh, berating his teammates. He expressed that only two Italian players deserved to be in the French squad, yet Italy triumphed thanks to their determination and fighting spirit. In contrast, France played lethargically and weakly.
